I have an 8.75, 742, rear differential and want to change the oil. Not leaking so no need to change gasket or seal. What is the best way to drain and how much should I refill, to the lip of the plug?. What is the best oil to use when refilling? Thanks

Suction gun the old oil out. Fill to overflowing at the fill hole. Use synthetic gear oil (90 weight) and check to see if it needs the friction modifier for the Sure Grip (a quick call the tech support number of the oil manufacturer should take care of this part).

I like Royal Purple, but I've heard great things about Amsoil too.

You can suck it out, other is to loosen all the nuts and pop the center out enough to drain it.
I add a drain and fill to my diffs i do so they can be drained and filled far easier.
