mine would not work until I unplugged ballast and jumped wires

Evidently this "was" "Procomp Electronics?" and is now "Speedmaster?"

By the way, guys, these folks are one of the outfits that are selling cheap copies of MSD stuff

Are they listing it as MSD? No there not, I'm sure most realize these distributors are knock-offs.. there are alot of vendors selling these knock off distributors, & most folks are actually having good luck with them, Can't be beat for the price, They are primarily from Pro-Comp. I deal with KMJ alot & have no complaints with them, they also sell Pertronix stuff along with Crane products. My last cheapo distributor was from Skip White & i'm very pleased with it, I did however a few months ago ordered one of summits HEIs for 90.00, thought it would be decent & better then pro-comps, well when i got it i was very disappoint, I noticed it was locking up with the cap on, so i free wheeled it & sure enough the rotor was tagging the cap terminals & locking up & yes the cap was on right i double checked it, it had way to much play in the shaft, I sent it back for a refund.

Go look at "some of their stuff". They have "look alike" 6AL, etc

That in no way looks like an MSD "brand" box & sorry i should have worded it that way, It is listed as an MSD box because MSD stands for "Multiple spark discharge" & thats what it does, Now Pro-comp sells a nicer MSD box then the one you listed, Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, Is it pissing MSD company off, i'm sure it is. But MSD can't complain, Not all there stuff is american made, try Mexico :glasses7:

This one.

So go buy one, I don't give a ****

Theres no reason to get bitter, I'm not trying to piss you off, just stating facts, You did make some good valid points on how he should be checking for voltage.

I have been checking the voltage with the power wire connected to the correct terminal on the dist cap. I had the meter set and had the terminals connected to the dist not just the wire. I was checking the voltage as I was trying to start the engine with the key. I am going to take the pickup coil to autozone and have them check that. For now I put my points dist back in the car so I can move it until I get this sorted out

FYI, Autozone has no idea how to check any pickup coil. I would be contacting this ProComp outfit, whoever they are. At this point, even that is not clear
