Kitty and I were really thinking about it, too. Our newest car is a 2004 Escape XLS 4x4. Best car we've ever owned. We've agreed to just put money in it next year for a few repairs it needs and keep on keepin on. If we add to the fleet, it'll be something pre 84. Probably another truck.Any car that has a push button start can easily be stolen, I will NEVER buy a new vehicle. Toiletta just said that all cars sold next year will have a software connection you need to buy at $80/month that will only let you start your car. Why anyone would want to buy a new car is beyond me...

I did a little more research and you are right, but how long before I am right? My understand is that is $80/year or $8/month, not $80/month. And it is just to use the remote start, not to start the car like you would normally do it.
Not arguing that it is ok, just saying.
So you buy a new car and have to pay $8 a month for Remote Start????? That doesn't make sense. Are you sure?My understand is that is $80/year or $8/month, not $80/month. And it is just to use the remote start, not to start the car like you would normally do it.

they're all going to go to some sort of subscription service to "unlock" the high end features on the car you think you own. toyota has been doing this since 2018, and other companies have similar programs. So you buy a new car and have to pay $8 a month for Remote Start????? That doesn't make sense. Are you sure?
Typical Ford Mustang driving.....always find them a short distance from where they started a journey....either through a fence, or in a ditch.Saw an article a couple days ago where 3 or 4 Shelby GT500s were stolen right off the assembly plant lot in Michigan. Rammed one through the security gate, that one suffered some severe front end damage and was found a few miles away. Technology, gotta love it.
My 05 Ram had those international icon symbols. Dang. At least put the words next to it.My damned 04 GMC is already too automated for me. The lights/ lighting controls are a mess And ICONS I DETEST ICONS!! How am I supposed to know what some little diagram of a "light" means? Is it the headlights, backup lights, driving lights, fog lights or light lights??
not me, i wouldn't be surprised if they outlawed changing your own oilEverybody in this thread assumes it'll be legal to sell parts and fix these old cars indefinitely....
Don't be surprised if the gov't outlaws ALL gasoline sales, then it won't matter if you can get parts or not.not me, i wouldn't be surprised if they outlawed changing your own oil
That's when we start making moonshine againDon't be surprised if the gov't outlaws ALL gasoline sales, then it won't matter if you can get parts or not.
I heard they have in some places in California???not me, i wouldn't be surprised if they outlawed changing your own oil
