Does a '65 A body console shift operate the same as a '70's slapstick?

Trying to figure out the shifter detents on '65 Formula S. Had a '71 Roadrunner AT with slapstick previously, which I liked.

'65 should be the last year of cable shift and is most likely completely different. A bodies never had a slap stick style shifter.
