Don't Like Cali Mustang Guy

-
only their old lady knows and she's still laughing.

There are those with every brand.....
I find it better to keep quiet and let them talk smack. Then next time I see them on the pavement hand them their Azz back. Then when they are like, Sh*t! Why didn't you tell me??? I just say well you were too busy talking about your car to even ask....
Maybe next time you will keep your mouth shut long enough to notice things and ask questions before spouting off.

Guys like this have a habit of forgetting that no matter how fast your car is, something out there is even faster, he's just yet to meet it.

We've got a guy here local running a beast of a blown big block Chevy powered Opel. Is the car fast? 8 second street car. I won't line up against him with anything I've got or plan on building. Let me get the Barracuda built though and I'll walk his *** on WGI.

Former co-worker of mine used to own a nice V6/5 speed Contour. Quick little car. He used to joke about wanting to race me in my Ramcharger. Fine, but, I choose the track. How well can that Contour go through a muddy field? About as well as this guy's "low 9-second Mustang." Let's race....:snakeman:

I have a good friend with a late model Shelby Mustang. When we went together to a test and tune, my old school cuda was faster. We both had fun and nobody made any negative comments about the others car. Yes he gets better mileage, has A/C, and can outrun me around any corner. My car is a toy, and I have another car that gets good mileage and has A/C.

A lot of these guys with the newer cars just are not car guys IMO. They don't give a damn about the heritage or history. You cannot tell them anything, either. My son is a fine example. They'll never realize in any way shape form or fashion that old muscle is cooler in a lot of ways than the new stuff. Bare bones, fender shaking power that you can not only hear, but FEEL when it goes by.

I take nothing away from the newer stuff. I love what technology has enabled the muscle car era to evolve into. Those cars can be blindingly quick and fast, but they are what they are. Power everything, quiet as a mouse but will sneak up and kick your ***. There's a lot to be said for that.

It's when the owners of said newer cars degrade older ones that you know they are buttlicks. Those kinda people are not car guys. They couldn't care less where their car's roots came from or what all it took to get to the car that they own. All they care about is get in, bust it off and go. I simply ignore those type people. Their attitude completely invalidates them, IMO.

mustangs suck

This is the problem, people that are stupid and arrogant, I own a 2003 Mach 1 Mustang, I am building a 1976 Duster with a 1972 340, I also own a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 hd, doesn't matter what you drive it is all about R-E-S-P-E-C-T for others. MY 2 cent

Guys like the OP speaks of is why I don't have a huge giant crowd of people that some people call "friends." The fact is I don't like to, and will NOT take the time and aggravation to listen to these kinds. So I don't. And some of you know how blunt I can be, LOL

This. And to expound a little bit.

Ask the Mustang guy what the bore and stroke of the engine is. Ask him what lift/duration the cam is. What's the compression without and with boost? Heck even ask him if the engine has a timing belt or gears/chain, lol. What are the gear ratios in the trans and ask him how that effects how quickly the car moves.
Really this could be said of any brand owner
I agree that in this day and age it seems more and more are just jumping in a new car, do some bolt-ons and some plug and play electronics.....they really know nothing about the car, just that it can be fast with a little $$$$. Unappreciative of the hobby you could say. And, to many of us, it's insulting when they act the way they do, as if they know more about it, when they really just know $$$$.

Even with us gals and gents that know what's in the engine/trans/rear/suspension/etc in our older beasts there are those that are the same way and use vague language to mask their ignorance such as: "stage 2 cam"(don't know the specs), "high rise intake"(that's what the box said), and has a "dualpump carb" (has no idea what double pump real is). I've heard these and many more from those that you can clearly tell, aren't fully aware of what they're dealing with....even hanging out at the racetrack.
I'm sure most are genuine in their love and need for speed, no matter what the language or words used may be. I guess we could say, they're still keeping the hobby/sports alive, even if it's not in a way we like, but nontheless, money and demand are still being pumped in the industry which helps manufacturers make the parts we buy as well, lol.

My daily driver is an 04 Mustang with a V6 5 speed. I've done nothing to the engine performance wise, and I don't claim that it's fast. I think it's actually slow. The problem isn't me around other people, it's other people around me. When I drive the car I usually get someone getting up next to me and messing with me. I've been asked to race many times by people I don't know. Now I won't back down if I think I have a chance (and I'll tell them whether or not I do), but I hardly ever go looking for it. I know what I have, and it's nothing to brag about. People expect Mustangs to want to race because of the bad reputation the snobby Mustang owners give people like me. I don't claim it to be race car, but everyone expects that I do.

Spot on... How many of these newer car owners, have ported a set of iron heads correctly, or degrees a cam /cams?. Becoming a realistic car guy, takes experience. Either, becoming a knowledgeable customer,or grabbing the kohona's & learning by wrench time. You learn respect, with experiences either way.

I own an 07 mustang GT 5 speed. I dont act arrogant about it. Actually the car is quite stock except for some nice items to dress it up like an old GT350. I also added a few things to make it a more fun car to drive, a short throw shifter improver, a set of flow masters, and a cold air intake. Its a really nice car, and to me has the vibes of the old 67/68 fastbacks that i really like.

I am also a mopar guy, actually was a dyed in the wool mopar guy since my dad got me hooked on em in the 70s. I feel chryco made more unique cool cars than any other manufacturer in the 60s and early 70s.

All i used to own was chrysler products. Eventually i broadened my horizons and have owned a few chevys and fords. I have owned my 94 silverado since new. I celebrated a 20 year anniversary of ownership with this truck this june. Some things just mean different things to different people.

Should this guy have been verbally shitting on your ride ??? HELL NO!!!. Thats just bad manners. Apparantly his momma never taught him that. I can appreciate any ride 2 or 4 wheeled that someone put their time into. This includes imports tho they arent my cup o tea.

I love my 07 stang Ford did this one right. It pays homage to the old fastbacks. Mine has only 8,700 miles on the clock, sits under a cover in my garage, and gets driven on weekends. When my cuda is done i will be parking it right next to my mustang and will have a tough time trying to choose which one to drive any given weekend.

Just my .02
Matt
