On a warm May evening at a strip near Valdosta, Georgia, I ran my street driven 67 Barracuda for the first time in probably twenty years. It almost made it into the 12's. My grandson was there with his 550 hp Vega bracket racer. He races a lot, and was track champion in his class at his home drag strip. He and his Dad told me the DA the evening I ran was 2000. I was curious about what my Barracuda might have run with better air, so went to the Drag Times DA Calculator, and got this result:

Correct your ET and MPH using the DA (Beta Testing)

DA 2000

ET 13.07

MPH 105.7

Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
12.769 @ 108.247 MPH

Does this sound close to correct?

My car runs very close to correction. You can keep some data notes and try to run your car this fall when the air is better. Closer you are to 0 feet the smaller correction if your tune and chassis setup is right.

Well, I'm gonna have to try that. I've never run 12s, would like to at least once with the motor I have. Got one more engine I want to build before I croak, incorporating what I've learned since I put together this one 35 years ago. Collecting parts now. We'll see how it goes.
