68 dart, 273, stock 904. 8/3/4. what would cause a shudder on a hard acceleration... also any idea what the driveshaft length should be? I think the one in it is too long.. thanks Jim

When is the last time the u-joints have been changed ?
Original driveshaft ?
How old are your motor mounts ?
How old is your Trans Mount ?

well all the mounts are new, u joints are new, rear springs are new. just restored it!

Drive shaft, stock/original ?
Seemed you had some question about it. What do you have ?

If it is the same shaft, one trick is to unbolt it at the rear u-joint and spin it 180 degs, and bolt it back in. Thus putting it back in exactly as it came out.

My next question would be about Harmonic balancer and flex plate.

I don't think being too long would cause the shudder. Could very well be pinion angle putting too much angle on one (or both) u-joints. Be sure its in the drive line. Run the engine at various RPMs while in neutral and see if you get any vibration there. If not look at the drive line. Here is something else to think about. Depending on whether the tranny has has a lot of abuse, the sprag could be trying to spin in the case. Not a frequent occurance but I have seen it happen.
