In an earlier post I read that with the 4 pin ecu (green wire not used) you run a single ballast. Well, I have a dual field alt. Dual ballast. I just discovered that I have a 4 pin ECU (huh?). What issues am I going to run into here. Burn out my Blaster 2 coil? or cap? I noticed the cap and rotor are a mess and need replacement. Both fields on alt. are being used .
I think I just need to eliminate the green wire and Splice my ign. 1 & 2 together at single ballast and go but wanted to be sure.
Thanks

You are going to get some long winded responses.

The ignition and charging are not (directly) related.

You can put a 4-pin module one a 5-pin system (dual ballast)
You cannot put a 5-pin module on a 4-pin system (single ballast)

Yup, you don't have to change a daid burned thing. A 4 pin ECU works just fine in a 5 pin system (but not vice-versa, as Cuda Al said)- the extra side of the ballast just becomes redundant, it's functions have been moved internally on the 4 pin ECU.
I always leave the double ballast and wiring in place, that way if I EVER have an issue I can plug in any ECU I have lying around, 4 or 5 pin, and get back on the road.

That sums it up.
Same coil AFAIK.
