Early Barracuda Trunk Latch Spring/Plunger Fasteners?

The little chrome screw I found it my parts bag along with the spring does not grab onto anything, just spins in the hole. Is there a nut, speed nut, or something else I'm missing here to tighten this thing down so that is stays put? Thank you.

P.S. I you ask me, this little spring/plunger thing would have been a good place for the factory to have put a trunk light switch.

I think it is stripped, I just put my plunger back in a few days ago and had no problems. I'm sure you could put a clip nut under just don't clip it in so it won't show.

Silly me, I was trying to install the plunger by coming up from the bottom when in reality it just drops in from the top. My way would never work with all the trunk/spring pressure it would just fall out even if the screw held momentarily. I am terrible when it comes to perspective drawing or learning to tie special knots. If there are two ways to do things, I begin with the wrong way as a rule.
