Hey guys ive been working on this for 2 days got most of the bugs worked out. So here goes, the car has all new painless wiring, only problem is that the shop that did it, left a bunch of things unplugged and bare. My problem is that the tach stopped working, its a tic-toc tach by the way. Its in a 68 charger also. I cant figure out why it crapped out. Theres only one wire coming out the back as far as i can see. It runs to the coil, and is connected to the negative. Is there something different i should be looking at? Under dash maybe? Any help is appreciated

Thanks.
Eli

Here is the painless harness I just cut out of a Duster. I will cash it in for the copper. What a fuggen nightmare. Who ever installed it probably ran the phone lines in India.

All seriousnos aside, LOL, ...................

Try this

http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?25103-how-to-wire-tic-toc-tach

69 shop manual:

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=244981

this:

[ame]http://www.abodyjoe.com/pictures/Misc.%20car%20info/69%20dodge%20service%20manual.pdf[/ame]

See page 8-74. Not pages 8 through 74. ONE PAGE no. 8 DASH 74

See diagram page 8-109, but that appears to be the "standard" tach, as the clock has to have power

Sweet jesus!!! OMM, I thought i had it bad! That sucks big time.. I think a mentally deranged person did this painless kit.. Half of it or more isnt even crimped even though it was supposed to be shrink rapped. The rest is bare, and hanging out under the dash... My prob is not enough wiring lol.

Thanks for the links 67 im kinda still in the same boat as i cant find any wiring to use, and it was working before even with the stock non- tic toc
Tach wiring, but atleast i know where stuff goes..

Thank guys i appreciate it tons

By the way can i sell the original harness? Like do people look for them?

OldmanMopar, That is PAINFUL wiring, but probably can't blame Painless for the implementation. In my cars, the dash wiring was in fairly good condition other than the P.O. hacks and a few melted wires. They weren't hard to repair, and that was much easier and cheaper than buying a new harness. I just took it all out and worked on the table. In the engine bays, I totally re-wired since the factory wires were hard & brittle, P.O. had hacked, and I wanted a number of upgrades anyway. I used all-new wires, w/ mostly original connectors, and added a relay/fuse box (95-99 Jeep).

Tach works now, a little slow to respond, most likely needs to be sent in to be rebuilt( i hear theres a company that does this?)

Anyways, thanks for the help guys, got that damn thing outta my yard finally, after minor exhaust work, extensive electrical lol, and some interior work. The bottom was equally as bad if not worse...
I shoulda got pics, try screws holding in the brand new floor pans with boogerwelds, and no kickdown being used lol!

Thanks guys!
