Engine ID (year) help

So are you thinking it's not the original engine I guess?

On anything before 1968 there was no VIN number on the engine to match the car. The best you can have on a pre 1968 Mopar is an engine that was cast shortly before the car was pushed out the factory.

I always thought it was the original. Could the factory started 66 engines a little before the end of 65? You know, a 66 motor went into one of the last 65s.
I don't know how to determine if the production date was late. Attached is the broadcast.

every model year started before the actual calendar year. usually the new model year cars are out by Aug/Sept.
My 78 Fury was built 9/77 but all underhood stickers, the VIN, etc all call it a 78.

Thanks, I don't know why I think I need to know all this. It's just fun I guess.
