Can anyone advise a manufacturer and part number for a standard 440 crank .001" extra clearance main bearing. I can't find one , my current clearance is only.0015" and I want .0025"
you can get them from Summit racing, I did.Can anyone advise a manufacturer and part number for a standard 440 crank .001" extra clearance main bearing. I can't find one , my current clearance is only.0015" and I want .0025"
Thanks but they only list standard sizeCheck here 440 Source makes them.
Bearings from www.440 Source.com
agreed, street and race are totally different requirements, I'm running 7200rpm and 14-1 compression, like you say you'll definitely spin a bearing with standard clearance. These old girls aren't manufactured to the tolerance of the new gen engines that will live with tighter clearancesGo ahead and run .001 clearance and 0W20 oil and when you spin a main and waste the block I'll still be running mine 7000 rpm with straight 40W
Yeah thanks Brian, just musn't be much call for them and they've stopped manufacturing. My old crank was 10under and polished so not a problem but it's now a two piece crank and not working so well!Looks like NLA from king or clevite, polish the crank down .001"
Yeah thanks, going for a race specYou're going for a race clearance? You know, .0025 is the max, the spec is .0005" - .0015" from the FSM.
street hemi`s came out of the factory w/ .003 straight across the board, that tell u anything ? I have about .0025 on my 505, and would rather had a hair more. I don`t think we even have decent crank man around here anymore, so what are u to do except added clearance bearings ?Yeah thanks, going for a race spec
