Fair price for 8-1/4 rear end

Hello,
I was wondering what people think is a fair price for an abody 8-1/4 rear end? With or without suregrip. I've seen some other posts but they're all about five years old. Also, I live in california so everything seems to be more expensive. Thanks.

about a year and a half ago I got a complete drum to drum with sure grip. $350.

I've bought them for 100-250 bucks. depends on the gear and SG or not.

If you are not set on originality, there are alternatives. A Ford 8 inch axle was available in Mavericks/Comets, Falcons and some Mustangs. The bolt pattern is the same but the center register is smaller.
Also, the 8 1/4 Chrysler axle can be found in Jeep Cherokees. They used coil springs so there is some cutting and welding required.

I got a drum-to-drum 2.71 from a salvage yard for $250 last year in Maryland. They might have charged more if they knew it was a sure-grip with 11" drums.
