Free revs in drive??

My 904 will only shift from 1st to 2nd if i shift it manually. When i put it in drive, it just free revs. I put it in 1st and it moves fine but i have to manually do the 1-2 shift.. it shift on its own fine from 2-3.

Any ideas?

Are you letting it idle in neutral for a few seconds before you go to "D"?

Kinda sounds like somthin may be hangin up or stickin in the valve body...Fluid good???

If the car wont move in (d) range and just slips and then will move in manual 1st it sounds like over run clutch (sprag) is slipping. It"s time to do what we do best, take it appart and make it better then before. Nice looking car you have.
