Front bench seat not locking in position on passenger side

As stated in the heading. I have a front split bench seat with the center armrest in my 72 Demon. The passenger side seems to jerk front to back while I am driving, starting, stopping? I tried it in various settings and nothing seems to help? Any ideas what would cause this??

you'll probably need to remove the seat -- cross wire hanging up on something -- needs lubricated - bad spring

Sounds like the passenger side locking latch is not functioning.

Broken or missing spring, bent latch arm, debris keeping it from doing its job or......

It's close to 50 years old and probably never been cleaned and lubricated.
