Front drums; 72 swinger

Have a 72 Swinger SL6 w/9" front brakes. Been trying for two days to get the drums off. Tried heat, penetrating oil, loosening the adjuster, 5# hammer. Nothing, except frustration.
Do I need to take the cotter pin and nut off?

Try taking the complete unit off, hub and drum....... Stans got it right, do that first, then proceed with taking the whole unit off. Good Luck.

Yup, unlike the rears, the front drums and hubs are swedged together at the lug studs.
Factory service manual is a free download. A little reading could save a lot of tiem and labor
