Fuel filter?

-
i used to have one betwen the mechanical pump and the carb until it started leaking and squirting fuel all over redhot headers it was not fun at all to put that fire out, so know i only trust my fuelfilter if it sits under the rear of the car where the fuelline comes out under the car from the fuel cell...

I use a plastic one before the pump with the rubber hoses both sides and hose clamps and I've plumbed in a metal filter between the pump and carb with the 3/8" aluminum compression fittings. You can see it before the regulator.

Same here. I have a Fram inline metal filter before my Carter electric pump (at back of car).

Then I have a glass inline in the engine compartment (and don't tell me about racing rules, it's not a drag car).It also serves as my flex joint between the motor and frame line (which are 3/8 aluminum).

You definately want some kind of filter installed pre-pump, to keep the crap from damaging it.
