They say 5/16 is not enough for 400hp.So I already had 3/8 in my car before the engine went in.
And you are correct 3/8 hose fits on 3/8 tube
And fwiw;
It is my opinion that for most streeters at 400 hp or less, will run just fine on 5/16 most of the time. And here is why; If the carb bowls are full and the pump works the way it is supposed to, then there will be enough fuel in the system for at least 8 or 10 seconds at WOT. This is well over an 1/8th mile. And how often is a streeter at WOT for this long? And this is also waaaaay past the speed limit.
So, I said most of the time.
And the why of that is two-fold; A) kinks and 90* fittings, improperly flared ends, and 40 years of crud in the line, all of such-like errors can fool the best of mechanics, and B) I don't want to buy anybody a new engine when it pukes at 10.1 seconds,lol.
