That is a great list. I would add two more:

www.forwardmotioninc.com
www.thedodgegarage.com.

Don't bother buying something without a turbo and adding a turbo engine, transaxle, axles and so on (it is not as simple as adding a turbo to a non-turbo engine) and just buy a turbo car. Shelby Chargers, and even the odd GLHS or CSX, are available for resasonable money from time-to-time.

Cool, I have a 89 Shelby Daytona and a 93 Talon TSI I need to play with one day.

I have an '87 GLHS that I bought new. I just sold my '86 GLHS on Ebay. That is where my username came from and I am not going to change it now that I sold one because I will get another '86 one day. I was the membership coordinator for the SDAC from 1986 - 1992. I am definitely a new and old Mopar man too.

The Shelby I actualy got for free. Its in pretty good shape but some one sent it to Maco for a cheap paint job., Its missing the radio and the distributor is out so Im not sure whats wrong with the motor. The Talon needs a short block and some cleaning but that car goes pretty good.

I've owned a turbo mopar continuously since 1985 when I purchased a Daytona Turbo. This was replaced with an 89 Shelby Daytona and I currently have an 03 PT Cruiser GT Turbo. The PT is by far the quickest even quicker the the Shelby that was running an exhaust system and MP computer.

All were/are great reliable fun cars to drive and were quicker than most other vehicles on the road.

My Super 60 Shadow made 242 hp at the wheels with a super 60 kit, I'm hoping for more this summer, as I turn up the boost. These cars are easy to work on and even easier to get some great power from them!
I have dealt with Turbo's Unleashed and have had great success with them and are good to deal with. Their parts are great quality and I would buy more from them. The firts thing to do before any modifing is to read www.thedodgegarage.com by Gary Donavan, graet spot to begin.

It's great to see other A body owners that also own Turbo Mopars.

Here are mine:

Guess I should speak up to, I am also a long-time Turbo Dodge head. I have had my 87 Shelby Z for 12 years it has a built common block TII w/an A568. I have also owned a 88 CSX-T. My dad had a 91 Spirit R/T TIII and a 87 CSX, he ended up putting the TIII into the CSX and made Hemming Muscle Machines magazine with it. It now resides in FL. Good to see some muscle heads that are also into TD's! Here are some pix I would attach them here but the files are large.

Not sure about a non turbo model but Motor Trend tested the 1990 GTC VNT
Convertible Turbo 5-Speed with the Variable Nozzle Intercooled Turbo and the 0 to 60 time was 7.2 seconds with a quarter mile time of 15.8 at 88+m.p.h.

The 0 to 80 time was 12.3 seconds

This is the model that I have. Took it on the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2005
and 2006. Had a blast.....:burnout: .......car will top 140 if you hammer it.

Any differance in a 8, 2.5L non turbo and a 89 2.5 Turbo 2 long block ? I was offered a K car with a good motor as a parts car.

Adam,

The '89 Turbo 2 had as std. equiptment:

Steel crank
Steel rods
Mahle pistons
Full floating wristpins
Roller cam
Cross drilled block for better cooling
Intercooler
12.5 pounds of boost (std.)

The 2.5's had:

Cast cranks (good for 300 h.p.)
Steel rods
(Not sure about the pistons)

The '89 Turbo 2 was a 2.2 and not a 2.5

The 2.5 was only used in the non intercooled turbo versions. The 2.5's
had higher torque figures. I have one of these in my '89 Turbo Mini Van
with 11.5 pounds of boost. With the 3 speed A-413 Torqueflite tranny and
3.02:1 final drive ratio (no lock up converter and no overdrive), it will smoke the tires the full 1/8 th mile at the local dragstrip.

K cars make excellent sleepers! Gary Donovan at www.thedodgegarage.com
has a K car that runs 10.40's at 135 mph and change. Met him in 2003
at the Nat's and saw him put down the numbers.

The K car is pretty beat up. My Shelby is in good shape. It needs a few small interior parts and a tail light but I was told the motor had a bad hole. Could even be a cracked head or head gasket for all I know.

Hey Adam, it would be cool to turn the K car into a Turbo. I've turned 2 Mini Vans, an 87 to Turbo, & Auto, an 86 to a Turbo 5 sp. and now an Acclaim. to a 2.5 Turbo and 5 sp. The hardest part is changing over the electronics. All the drive trains just bolt in. As long as you get thje hole car with wiring harness, it's no problem. Pull the old TB or Carb motor, bolt in the new motor, and then get a FSM for both the doner, and the orignal car, and put the harness's together. Even though years are different, a lot of the wire colors don't change.
Non turbo blocks are different from turbo blocks by the way.
