Hello all. Curious as to what octane I should be running for a big block with 13.8:1 compression? 112? 114? 116? Any advice helps. Looking around online people seem to have various opinions. Its 500ci drag motor. Thanks.

I would switch to alcohol my self, but if you where to do anything, run the 112 for a weekend, and then try the 114 to see if there is a again or a lose, mrmopartech

How about straight from the horses mouth.

Sunoco HCR Plus 114, recommended for engines with compression ratios exceeding 14:1
Sunoco Supreme 112, good to 15:1
Sunoco Standard 110, good to 13:1

Fits exactly with Mrmopartech's suggestion. 112 will more than likely be what you end up running.

Remember, you only need what you need. More isn't always better. If 112 does it, 114 could mean a loss of money, power or no gains at all.

for us, due to the price of race fuel (114) @ 8.00 per gallon
we changed both cars to E-85 @ $2.63 per gallon, last year

Satellite/540 and Dart/ 449 both 14-1
even using more gallons, was cheaper

More doors are fun
