Gauge face restoration help?[

Hello!.

I was wondering if there was anything that could be gently applied to the faces of the original gauges in a 74 Duster that would brighten up the black without hurting to paint instruments increments for the reading of said gauges? Thank You!

If you want to see a new looking gauges, you won't be happy if you attempt it yourself.
I would send them to Instrument Specialities in RI. They do a fantastic job with dash restoration and fuel sender units.
If you have the time/money and want them to look new, they are the go to.

The screens are supposed to be very flat black and white. Old screens can be sunburned and have a whitish haze, less contrast. If you wanted to try a dremel buffer and water to bring them back a little, you would need to remove the needles first. The buffer can't reach the corners. Fail.

Get the gage face decal kits off ebay, and repaint the pointers with fluorescent orange.

That was the plan. I thought DMT may have had some but I couldn't find any. I'll look again. They are actually not bad shape at all
