Head Issues, Scrap them? Save them? Thoughts?

Id like to see the push rod hole to push rod clearence.
Early heads arent opened up for the amount of travel/angularity that the roller cam puts the push rod at.
Its not bad with a hyd roller because of the cup height , but with a solid roller ...u will need to grind the push rods holes larger.

You are correct the stock pushrod holes where way to small. This motor is a hyd roller and when we originally placed the heads on the block the pushrods would bind.

We bored them out to 5/8 inch. We have not had any clearance problems.

Just to clarify. This issue has been resolved. The engine has about 200 miles on it with no issues. It was a combination of poor shop work and a lack of attention to detail. Lots of lessons learned. Biggest issues was with the springs. They just where not strong enough. Also the heads had many tolerance issues with the guides.

Car is running good and making good power. Very happy with it now =)

Seems to be the problem. Mark
Valve to piston clearances were evedently not ck'd or ck'd incorrectly.....after the 1st go around a thicker head gasket would have fixed the problem IMHO. Who was responsible for putting the motor together and ck'ing clearances....??????
