I let my registration lapse on my camper and was last registered in Oct 2013. I want to reinstate it and DMV charges a $14 fee apparently. What happens then? I suspect it will be bureaucratic red tape.

Obviously I dont live in the USA and dont know the procedure so any Californians that can help would be appreciated.

In Ca. those kinds of vehicles, Travel trailers, campers, cant be non op'ed, have to stay Reg. You will have to pay Reg. for all the years not paid with penalty and interest. Is is a camper that has wheels or a camper that goes on the bed of a truck?

Has Wheels

I paid a $14 renistatment fee and now the thieves want $650 in backdated rego. It hasnt been driven in 2 years.

I can submit a statement of facts form with a sob story of why I cant pay it but im not sure if that will work.

Apparently the fine for driving unregistered vehicle is only $280.

Not surprised. California needs our money to give to the Illegal, I mean undocumented, families. We cant let them go hungry. O and the fine is 280, but they will impound said unregistered vehicle. the sky is the limit then.

What is the yearly registration on the camper anyway, that you didn't pay, when you let it lapse?
Sounds like your just going to be paying the lapsed registration, the current registration, and the late fees. :dontknow:

Might try a mechanic's lean,on it... Check with local DMV,or a vehicle registration specialist.

If your not in California then why are you trying to register it in California?

Do a search for $49 Registered Agent. Or perhaps it was $49 LLC. Open up anow LLC in Mt. Once you past all the initial crap and fees will cost you $49 a year to keep the LLC running. Mt. Has permanent plates on bikes/trailers and I think RVS, as well as vehicles 10 years old. No tax, no emissions.
