They worked when we took the car off the road.

I thought maybe it was the sealed beam was having problems but when I turn on the high beams, both headlights die.

I feel naked not having my manual..I am using chiltons tonight.

I have 2 wires coming in it looks like..an 18r and a 18V*. Is one low and one high ?

Thanks
ian.

It is the low beam. No power to the light. Followed it to the firewall. No power there.

Tested on the other side of the dimmer switch. power when it clicks to low beam.

Could I have disconnected something between the switch and the firewall ? I guess I could run a wire from the switch out to the firewall but that is messy.

Any ideas ?

WHICH SIDE of the firewall are you testing it on?

If you are testing it on the engine side, then it's "right there" in the bulkhead connector.

If you are testing it on the interior side, there is only "two feet" of wire between the dimmer and the bulkhead connector. "It's one wire." It has to be

the connection at the dimmer

the connection at the firewall

or a break in the wire.

The engine side...but still testing the wire. To be positive, I should pull the wires off the block and test the block itself. If the block is bad, then I will run a wire.

What would make it go bad ?
