hood insulation pad, which way?

Got a hood insulation pad from Vans's. Its not the molded one, my question is which way does it go, insulation towards hood or on engine side?

Yes, towards the metal of the hood.
Otherwise the fan air would blow it all over the place.

Thanks, the instructions say the insulation on engine side, but I don't like the mottled gray color, I prefer the black side to show.

Not to highjack your thread or anything, but does anyone know where can buy the molded type that fits the contours of the underside of the hood ?

This is just the first one I came across. I think year one and classic industries carry them. I look on ebay for free shipping and have ordered small repro parts from Van's, free and fast shipping, and just my opinion but I think it is the same stuff that year one and classics carry for a better price.
Now where did I put my original clips? I found the one that I put in the glove compartment but can't find the other 17.
