How many volts should I have at the coil

That doesn't make sense. Either you have the incorrect resistor or the coil is a dead short.

Voltage varies, on a factory coil / resistor, somewhere around 6 -8 with engine stopped and points closed (or Mopar ECU) and running somewhere between 10-12 with system running 14V.

The problem was the coil. I now have 6.5 volts while idling. Thanks.
Thanks for the reply. The problem was a bad coil. Replaced the coil and now have 7 volts idling. Thanks again.
