Here's a cool pic from yesterday's practice for the Pacific Air Show taking place in SoCal this weekend...
- The orange biplane started life as a 1929 Taperwing Waco but has been completely redesigned and structurally reinforced using modern day engineering and materials along with state-of-the-art technology to allow the addition of a General Electric J85 jet engine with 3,000 pounds of thrust. The main powerplant is a Pratt & Whitney 985 radial engine. The combo allows this aircraft to reach speeds up to 250mph.
- The yellow monoplane is an Extra 330SC, a single seat, low-wing aerobatic monoplane with conventional (taildragger) landing gear, that offers incredible aerobatic performance for the unlimited competitor or free-style pilot
- The bottom plane in the pic is a Zivco Edge 540 manufactured outside of Oklahoma City
