This big heavy thing came in a package buy of parts some of which I needed.
It looks kinda like a Mopar "flat back" alternator, but it's half again as big and the connectors are like none I've seen.
The stacked "FLD" connectors read 3 Ohms from one to the other. (Meaning the field coil is OK??)
Anyone know what it came on and if it has any trade value. Thanks! BC

Uh....heh........yeah, that's the "big frame" alternator Ma used starting sometime in the mid 70's, I think the originals were 100A output or something. I used to run one with a "wench" on my old Landcruiser. (340 SB) It would bury a 100A SW ammeter

The two connectors are indeed the field terminals. You can use a common 70's solid state regulator. I know that the service docs say different, but I ran mine for a several years on a standard regulator. They originally required special mount brackets and MUST BE GROUNDED from the case to the engine block-----ground stud there next to the red output lead.

If you cruise around the video service bulletins over at MyMopar I think there's a service bulletin

I have one on my duster, possibly a factory upgrade(original wiring did not go through the bulkhead)

Personally, i think they're too heavy to be worth anything. I think i'm gonna drop 20lbs off the front end when i put in a denso. lol

that don't look like any 100 amp alt I ever owned unless its pre 76

on the ones i have there are 2 fld connectors not 2 into the the same as here and the back just looks different i would say its an industrial unit. it probably is 100 amp tho

Thanks to 67Dart273 for the service manual

There's more info there than I'll ever need about the 1975 Chrysler 100 amp alternator.
The material is really interesting for historical purposes.
Henry Ford said "History is bunk!" Historians said "Henry Ford is a damned old crankshaft!"
I'll file it in the BC stash of damn near useless information (LOL)!!
