Ive got an issue with in-line tube. I BOUGHT a 5/16 fuel line for a 73 Dart. I usually make them, however, I wanted the Auto 1 kids to install the "factory" line. Anyway....the line broke during the install.

Where the line goes around the frame rail in the RR wheelwell, the saddle bend had and internal clearance of 2", the frame rail measure 2 1/2 wide. When the kids pushed up the line, it snapped at the bend. Inline told me their lines don't break with 1 or 2 bend cycles...this one did!

Inline told me all their lines are correct, and 2" clearance is correct. They told me I had too much undercoating, that was the problem. The rail is 2 1/2" wide, trust me. Is it only my car on the planet with 2 1/2" wide frame rails?

In-line told me they would sell me another line with a 20% discount, but it would be bent the same way (wrong). So I asked for a refund, they told me NO. I told them that they would be losing a customer for life over this.....the manager "mark" said...."Thats fine". wow.....great customer service....

1) what is the correct frame rail width?
2) any else run into this problem?

BTW: In my opinion.....NOT very helpful people at Inline tube, bend your own lines....

That's pretty sad but seems typical anymore. I had pretty good luck with Finelines. Have you sent a photo proving the width of your frame rail? In any case it probably didn't help your cause when the kids forced a 2" bend over a 2.5" rail.

For the price of another fuel line, they should have just sent you one.
I bought the wrong seat cover for my rear seat (ordered sedan, not hardtop)..my fault, totally. Legendary sent me the proper one, free, and paid my shipping on the one I returned. THATS customer service, and they have a loyal customer for life. Right or wrong, you should always be right..........anybody remember those days?

but you didn't rip the seat cover either...

Just went out and checked on my Dart. It is 2 3/8 wide where the line goes around. No undercoating. Would think it should have fit if they would of sprung it open a little bit.

They said they all fit perfect and they never had a complaint. I told them to give me the name of someone who fit that line, he told me no. I said, are you prepared to loose a customer for life over 1 line? I asked for another OR a refund. That line was 1 of 5 items I bought on that invoice.

Heres the line and the frame rail. It broke on the first tweak the kids did, to fit it over the rail.

When he said "they are all like that and they all fit perfect.." I call Bull Sh*t.

hmm, i bought my brake lines from them. I have never been able to get rid of my spongy pedal either. i wonder if one of my lines has a crack or something!

brake lines were fine, they need some tweaking, but no big deal. the 5/16 line is MUCH stiffer, esp. at the bend. that's why it cracked.

All the line material that I have in coils seems to be much more flexible than this stuff too. I'd bet its made from bulk chinese line stock rather than good Weatherhead line stock.
