OK, so I must confess to an insane fascination with this Fairbanks Morse Stationary engine. I found it on You Tube and showed it to my 6 year old grandson. Book marked it and now all three of my little guys watch it with me, multiple times. Am I the only one mesmerized by it? Guess I just love most things mechanical.

BTW - TURN UP THE VOLUME.

That's wild - never seen such a thing. Though it sounds like a giant Model A engine running.

I played with a Fairbanks when I was a kid, and once in awhile my father would hook it up to the giant freakin saw blade with a drive belt about 10 feet long and cut logs with it.
It wasn't near that big though, and it was a signle cylinder.
There is a big one at the mine in Jerome,AZ that's huge like that, and they will fire it up for $7.00

The engine you hear running in the beginning is the engine that starts the big one.

Oh it's 10 bucks now.

Reminds me of the relics that they have at the old engine show in Buckley, MI every August!!!! If you've never been there, you should go if you get to the Thumb State. Awesome to see the old steam tractors that are restored and getting a work out.

OSHA inspectors need to stay away!!! LOL!

they used some of those to provide power and automation to factories . they would put them in rooms by themselves and use a cooling tower for the water supply to keep them from overheating . fairbanks morse was a very common engine back in the day for sawmills mining and factories .

There is an antique farm machinary show near my hometown every year. I love old diesels and steam motors. There was a little british field tank there this year that was really cool...tons of really cool steam tractors too.

Wow!! amazing !! Thank you, enjoyed these videos this morning  :coffee2:

Those old engines are pretty amazing. I stumbled on that same video last summer and was mezmerized for hours and had to show it to everyone that stepped foot in my shop. Thanks for posting it, I don't know if I'll ever get tired of watching it.

I know this is a way different type of engine but the title is insane engines so I'm surprised nobodies posted this yet.
