Intake manifold gaskets

Quick question: edelbrock gaskets and manifold.... The plain side of the gasket is against the head, and the silicone beaded side against the manifold, right?

I saw this on another forum:

"I ended up calling edelbrock and they said no need to use the gasgacinch really ..."we put that on there for the stupid people".....LOL...not sure what that means......ANyways....he said just use some black RTV around the water ports and on a couple other spots to hold the gasket in place.....black rings up towards the intake.

swinger, you are correct.

I don't use silicon around the water ports on the intake, just on the end rails in the front and rear. Never had a leak, makes remove and replace a lot easier.
