I was curious if anyone might know why my left turn signal flashes twice as fast as my right on my 64 Dart.

I've got a new turn signal switch that I plan on putting in at some point to fix my broken cam. Maybe I should just wait and see if the new switch fixes this issue.

Thanks,
Robert

usually when a turn signal bulb flashes faster then the other one of the bulbs is out check front and rear to see if its flashing,,,the faster side will be the side with a bulb not working

Yeah, all my turn signal lights are working. I may try to inspect the bulbs to see if there is any corrosion on them or maybe just replace them all. Thanks!

Check all your grounds.

Could possibly have a wrong bulb in there somewhere too.

i know some bulbs will fit just fine..but they where never intended to be used in the vehicle...my 66 barracuda can fit the 1157 bulbs but its not correct. they are the 1xxx (cant remember?) a bit smaller (physically) and possibly resistance difference.

Flasher switches are triggered by load. When there isn't enough load on the circuit they don't flash, whis is why a burned out bulb on one side will usually cause the signals on that side of the car to flash slowly or not at all. Converesely, if you have too great a load on 1 side, such as a bulb of higher wattage, that side may flash faster.
Look for something causing a greater load, mis-matched bulbs, corroded connections, etc.

Flashers operate on resistance. When one bulb is blown that side will flash slowly or not at all ( most common ). When the are more bulbs ( like a trailer hooked up ) resistance goes down , flasher operates faster. Rapid flashing will kill the average flasher. Only an equal system will provide equal flash rate.
Now your question is... Is one side too fast or is the other side too slow. I cant answer that from here. Hope this helps

First off thanks for all the responses and helpful information! The number of people willing to share their knowledge on this site is overwhelming. I think I'll be a Mopar guy from here on out.

As far as my problem, I just checked my front lamps tonight and you all were right. I had a 1157 in one socket (fast side) and 1034 in the other. I replaced both of them with new 1034 wagners (all they had at O'Reillys).

The seemed to make all the difference. Both sides now blink at about the same rate now. I haven't checked the back yet but will do so soon.

Thanks again!

Thats what I like to call ALOHA!

swap bulbs, if it does it fast on other side its bulbs, check wattages too then go for earths, get a bit of wire, connect to a good ground and tap on bodies of indicators, if slows its a ground problem.sorry if sounds crude method, im a sparky and these simple tests the best and easiest. ps, get matching wattage bulbs to the ones that are working right,
