I found a couple of 318s in two old case combines the other day. I was wondering if they were anything worth trying to buy. Both of them had tags on them that said LH 318 488. Both block were 68 castings. I was wondering if they might of has large valve higher compression heads on them. I know the old Chevy 327 that they put in combines had large valve high compression heads . Did chrysler do the same or are they just your average 318 just different application?

They could be 318-3 engines which were industrial and had some differences about them. Can you post a picture of them?

If they are 318-3 motors, years back Hot Rod magazine used a 318-3 crank to replace the weak 340 cast crank during a rebuild to build more HP in a 73 340.

They had a normal water pump on them. Not the tall style that a 318-3 has.
