loose sun visors

Are they the padded ones?
The sun visors are the padded type and they slide on a post and inside the visors are a metal sleeve that is supposed to have spring tension but the tension is gone and I cannot squeeze it back together and make it stay-the metal sleeve just opens up again?

Sound like the same ones on my 70 Challenger. I had success by going to a electronic store and getting some heat shrink tubing that just fits over the metal post. Use a hair dryer to shrink it to a tight fit on the metal post and work the visor back on. You do not need to cover the whole metal post-just about a inch or so.
