Having to replace the lower ball joint on a 73 Dart Swinger. Rubber boot was not on ball joint and when I tried to press it on I tore boot. What is the best way to get this boot into place . Upper and lower ball joints were replaced two months ago and are bad now along with the idler arm.Was this just bad parts are am I looking over another problem ?

Find a bar, socket, or other round piece that you can slide over it and tap it on evenly.

I use a socket or if they have the right size when you are using the ball joint tool to compress it on I use that. The ball joint boot should have a metal ring in the outer lip of the boot. Make sure what you use slips over it without having to pinch the boot at all. Does that make sense. I knew I should have documented with photos when I did these on mine
