I called the machinist today to make an appointment for the engine to get inspected. He is going to verify the piston bore, bearing sizes and crank limits. He told me to take the crank out and put the main caps on and torque them. When I went out to do this I am not sure which direction the main caps go. I see they are numbered, however, there is a # on one side of the cap and a Z on the other side. Does it matter which side they go? Here is a pic for reference. Thanks in advance. BTW Engine is a 340

bearing tang on the block and in the cap should be on the same side...

I think I just answered my own question. All the caps have the tang in the same position so I will ensure they are installed on the same side as the block tangs. I am a first time builder on this 340 so bear with me! Thanks for the help!
