I have a set of 906 heads I would like to use on my mild 383.
The heads have 2000 miles on rebiuld and have hardened seats
Question:
The 906 heads have valve springs for a 575lift @.050 mech cam
I am going to install a mild 232dur 470 lift @.050 Comp hydraulic cam in the 383.
Can I use the mech cam springs on the heads now or should I change them a lighter spring to match the Hyd Cam

Thanks for your help

You need to know seat pressure, installed hight, and open pressure or otherwise your just guessing..But my guess if they were correctly installed for that 575 lift cam, they are to much for your mild cam.

Not a lot of difference. If the installed heighth is right for your cam and the seat pressure isnt too high they will work fine.If the installed height isnt right or the seat pressures too high you will see premature lobe wear. I bet cam manufacturers use the same springs with different cams. I would get a comparison by looking at comps cam chart and find two cams that compare to yours. Then see how much difference is in the spring specs.
