When changing over from a stock gen 3 front sump oil pan, too a Milodon mid sump pan. Can you used the factory oil dip stick?
Oh, I was hoping I could use the existing one. What company made the new dip stick( milodon)?I have a 6.1, I have a new dip stick. I also had to knock out a plug in the block.
Do have any pictures of the location where plug was removed?I have a 6.1, I have a new dip stick. I also had to knock out a plug in the block.
ok, but how do you know how many is "X" quarts?Add your "X" amount of quarts, run it to get the filter full, let it set then check the stick. This would be the correct amount. Now make a permanent mark on the dipstick>
So you are saying I could use the stock dip stick as long as I mark the oil location line?Add your "X" amount of quarts, run it to get the filter full, let it set then check the stick. This would be the correct amount. Now make a permanent mark on the dipstick>

oh, sure, you could take the easy way out and read the instructions, but it's not the manly way, hahaha.Simply go to Milodon’s web site Milodon Chrysler Oil Pans
The capacity for each pan is listed. Filter is in addition to that

So this dip stick in the picture has been relocated? Just realized the factory dip stick is on the oil pan on my 6.4. Thought I read in your thread that the dip stick you used didn’t fit properly. Guess I will be order another dip stick.
I used the factory dipstick 05 truck.Oh, I was hoping I could use the existing one. What company made the new dip stick( milodon)?
Was hoping to use the factory if it is possible. The Milodon dipstick was too long. I had to disassemble it and shorten it. Are you using the factory or Milodon windage tray? I had many fitment problems with the Milodon tray.

I have a 5.7 that came from a car, 2006 i believe. I used a factory dipstick for my Milodon pan, though I think it was the truck dipstick. It's kind out there in a weird place, but it works fine for me.

I don't think I had a plug in mine, but if I did I think it was just a matter of taking the oil pan off and hitting the dipstick hole with a punch. I think it's just like a typical freeze plug in that it's just a little cup. You can see the bottom side of the hole with the pan off so you can just knock it out with a long enough punch.
I used all Milodon parts.
