I am looking to sell my distributor/orange box kit but the reluctor hits the pickup coil on 2 teeth? I dont feel right selling it until its fixed. Any ideas?

Yeah. Adjust the air gap.

Could be the shaft is bent

Could be the shaft / bearings are worn

Could be it just got out of adjustment

.008". That's inches, not metric

It was only used for a few thousand miles. After taking it out (got an accel distributor with adjustable mechanical advance) noticed while spinning the shaft it hit on a couple teeth. the other teeth are spaced correctly. How would I go about seeing if the shaft is bent?
Thanks

Rotate it and LOOK at it. Wiggle it side to side to look for excessive bearing play. There's actually a procedure, I believe, in the old shop manuals.

What is the gap on the "loose" side? Could it have been dropped on it's "head?" -----or something dropped on it?

Can the pickup coil be removed and change the.position a couple teeth? If so rotate.after changing.....if 2 different teeth hit then shaft is bent.
