msd ignition question.

ok. so ive been wondering. with msd ignition, should you keep the ballast resistor or not. i dont remember exactly, but i thought i remember reading somewhere that you shouldnt keep the ballast resistor because it cuts the amount of power.

They come with wiring diagrams or you can just google up MSD wiring diagrams and find what you need, my MSD 7AL doesnt show a ballast resistor but thats with an electronic distributor, I think a ballast is just for points but not positive.

when i looked at the diagram, it said the red wire was connected to where the other ecu was connected, which was the ballast. and it uses magnetic pick ups. so i can get rid of it im assuming now from what you said.

The ballast resistor is hooked up on mine. It's a 6AL setup with
The MSD Pro billet dizzy.

 

[360 Charger]

No ballast resistor required if changing over to the 6AL. Discconected mine when I did the conversion.
