I installed a summit universal rad in my 72 dart. Its 25in wide and 19in tall. I have a cooling issue at idle such as the temp will go up to 200, cruising down the road the temp is about 150. A shroud is definately a must.

After 3 misfits, I made my own.

2" wide hoop...welded on 4 brackets...16 guage steel...painted it satin black.

I'm really happy with it. With paint...around $20.00.

Just make the hoop 1/2" larger in dia than the fan so you get 1/4" clearance all around. Then weld on the brackets so the hoop clears the rad by 1/4".

Half of the fan depth so be exposed.

I think an aluminum one, brushed and clear coated would look really trick. But I can't weld alum. I can barely say it.

This could be fixed with a thermostat that works properly.
Your engine temp should go to 180 to 195 and stay there.
If it is running 150 it is stuck open and will not
stop water in the radiator to cool it.

Been there before.
is it possible there is no thermostat in it.
Just a thought.

I also made my own,I had some stainless that I cut up ,free formed then cut it in half and bolted to the radiator mounting holes from the front, the bolts hold the radiator and shrould both. it doesn.t matter what ya make it out of just as long as it makes the fan pull air through the radiator .

djvcuda made me a kick *** one out of scrap metal laying around his garage...
