I am putting on new wheels and tires on my 72 Duster and wanted to get some info. The new wheels are all 15 X 6 with a 3 1/2 BS. I would like to go as wide as I can without rubbing and given they are 6" in width. I was thinking that I would do 235 60 on the rear and 215 70 on the front. Any thoughts?

You may be able to squeeze a 245/60/15 on the rear which is 26.6" tall. That would be decent. A 215/70/15 front is basically 27" tall and would most likely rub especially when turning not to mention look goofy being taller than the rears. I have 215/70/15's on my 70 Duster as rollers currently and they rub when turning sharply. A 205/65/15 would be a good tire at 25.5" tall to compliment a 245/60'rear. That's basically the combo I had on my 71 Scamp. Looked good.

I was checking out Tire Rack and they don't have a 205/65/15 with white letters. would a 225/60/15 fit without rubbing on the front?

I have put 275's on a 6'' without any issues.I would do atleast a 265 0n the rear.

Ok then get a wider rim for the rear.I ran 275x60's on a 6'' rims for 25 years with no issues....205x65's on the front and 215x65's if you want to trim the fender a bit.

I do not want the car to have a big rake so I am trying to keep the tires as close as I can to the same size in height.
All 4 rims are 15x6 with a 3 1/2" back space
ok, after some research on overall diameters:
For the front:
1- 215x70x15 is 26.9" -68383gts says this will rub the front fender -good to know
2- 205x70x15 is 26.3" -68383gts says this will work without rubbing the fender
3 -225x60x15 is 25.6" -I think this should also work?
4 -235x60x15 is 26.1" -I think this should also work?
5 -215x65x15 is 26" -I think these should work?
For the rear:
6 -255x60x15 is 27.1" should work?
7 -275x60x15 is 28" should work"

I am thinking I will go with 215x65 on the front and 255x60 on the rear
Any thoughts?

I checked my Duster and I was wrong mine are 215x65's on the front and they just rubbed on the inside of the front fender.Easy fix if you want to do some slight trimming. So a 205x65 should fit on the front just fine.Sorry I was thinking they were 70's....

Here is mine up front 215x65's and the rear 275x60's Cooper Cobras.I have a little bit of a rake but I also have coil over rear shocks.

Thanks for the update. I would like to go with BF goodrich and white letters. According to the tire rack they don't make a 205x65x15 with the raised white letters. The 205x65 is 25.5" and the 225x60 is 25.6"
So, perhaps the 225x60 for the front? Any issues with a 225 width?
