I need to install a 90 degree oil filter adapter on a small block 273. The one I have is cast iron. Obviously, the large paper gasket and the small thick cork gasket from the rebuild gasket set go between the adapter and the block. What goes between the bolt head and the adapter? It seems that a gasket would be destroyed when tightening the bolt.

There is a gasket that goes between the bolt head and the adapter. If its a felpro set it will be the same diameter as the shank on the bolt and will have a hard metal core, and be blue faced. Mopar sells these in sets thru their parts department as well. Just look up in the MP or direct connection parts catalog on line for the PN, and order one up !
