I am in the final stages of getting ready to start my 340 after i
installed a Comp Street roller.I am waiting on a set of pushrods, which
will be here Tuesday. I would like some opinions on the oil i should use.
I was using 10-40 Pennzoil with Hughes additive, when i had a solid
flat tappet. The old cam and lifters looked good when i took them out.
Thanks for your advice.

No matter what you hear, I would stick with using some zinc, either in the oil or as an additive. Zinc protects metal to metal surface contact - period, and even roller set ups still have surface contact. Certainly less critical with a mild roller build but why chance it?
IMO, if you don't have a catilytic converter to foul out, why take the chance... Also if this is a new rebuild break it in with a high zinc break in oil (non synthetic) for a couple hundred miles.

I have two street cars with mild solid street roller cams, a BB and a SB. Both have over 2000 miles on them. The SB was just taken apart and checked the cam and lifters looked great. The SB has 15 1/4 mile passes on it and iam getting the car ready to HotRod dragweek this year.
I use ether Mobil one synthetic or valvoline racing synthetic.

I like Rotella t 15-40w when I break in new motors. Never had any issues, knock on wood.
