Hey there,
I put a new oil pressure sensor in my Duster 360. Not because I thought the last one was broken, but just seemed like a good thing to do and I was clicking around Rockauto.

With the old sensor the OIL light would illuminate at start up then disappear quickly.

With the new sensor the OIL light never illuminates.

Im assuming it should turn on at start up and I just broke something that wasn't broke in the first place?

Thank you,
Ben

Make sure you put in the sender for a warning light and not the sender for a pressure gauge. If not, put the old one back in. The OE ones are better quality than most aftermarket senders anyways.

^^As above^^ If you have a fairly large canister device, it is for a gauge and not a light. The light sender is a simple on/off pressure switch. You can damage them by over-tightening them. YES!!! the lamp should light at zero pressure, so when the key is turned on, should light. Easily check the lamp circuit, just unhook the sender wire, clip it to ground, and with the key in "run" the light should be bright.
