Here's the scoop on this Swinger ! I just bought it from the original owner. Says he bought it new in Cali. and moved to Florida , now he's moving back and couldn't take the car. Had Macco paint it and put a new vinyl top on it . Crappy job ! Has power steering, power disc brakes and an auto trans, /6 . fired right up drove nice ran ok most everything works that I could check. After a test drive, parked it in his driveway,
made the deal . Went to load it up and the damn thing doesn't want to run. Typical carb issue on the 1920s. Runs good till they get hot then don't want to restart and run. . Looks like a new rebuilt carb. New gas tank, new tires, front seat cover. Floor pans looks solid and most of the trunk. Left 1/4 panel is rotted up some . Anyway it's not to bad for 50 years old. A little TLC and a couple parts I have laying around here should make it a decent little driver. Needs both bumpers and a dash pad which I have

Been cleaning it up a bit ! Not to bad .
Has a little rust in the trunk floor left 1/4 is bubbled up quite a bit. And it has a generic vinyl top put on at Macco. Which looks crappy around the edges with generic trim . Rides and drive pretty decent.

I thought a 72 should have electronic ignition ! But I don't see it here .
Power steering and power disc brakes. Looks like the Ir cleaner isn't correct for this , as it's *** backwards and won't go on the other way.
Has years of maintenance records and receipts ,so the owner did a lot of "professional " maintenance on this car.

I know the V8 cars got electronic ignition in 72, but maybe the "Fell over motors" didn't get it till later. I bet those are a pain to do the points in!

Been tinkering with this dart the past few days. Replaced both bumpers with some I had laying around here. been trying to get it to run and re-start better. Has a pretty new carb on it. As I was adjusting the thing I noticed a gob of silicon all around the base of the carb. Pulled it off to see WTF was going on there and some dummy busted the whole bottom of the carb tightening it down, I guess. So now I'm on a search for a re-builder.

Congrats Al! That is one of the nicest Mopar grilles designed! Well done. I have a /6 air cleaner if you want? Pay the ride.

Well I've been working on the swinger a bit to see how bad or good it is.
I pulled the vinyl top off the see how bad the rust is.

Pulled all the interior out and floor pans are actually in nice shape

The trunk floor has some small rust holes. . Not sure how far to take this swinger.

I'd hunt a good donor roof maybe if I was going to keep it. Someone out there has a rusty Swinger w a good roof.

I have one out back already cut off. Only problem is it's a lot easier cutting one off than putting one on !! But I'm in to deep on the price of this car to part it out. So I guess it'll be my next project !

Only 340 cars got it in 72. Electronic ignition became standard across the board in 73 with the new model revisions

Pretty sure that my original '72 Dart 318 had electronic ign from the factory. It was original , not messed with as far as I could tell .
