My car's manual steering...
Years ago though, I had a D-150 with PS, and a leaky pump...
If I put ATF in it , it would need to be refilled in about 2 weeks.
If I put Power Steering Fluid in, I didn't have to add any for like 2 months!
Many of your PS fluids have some kind of stop leak (seal swell) in them.

I had a pump that leaked like crazy.. turned out it was just the big o-ring for the reservoir. It was smashed and in 3 pieces!

It wasnt leakin just put it in for peace of mind
It works great in my tranny for a few months then leaks again after sitting
