Pro Touring 10K

OK give me your opinion. Thinking about the interior, I flip back and forth between the stock bench seat with a vintage 60s fabric inserts. was thinking about using stock buckets seats and having the foam redone with side bolsters or going with some all aluminum vintage race seats. Want to keep some vintage flavor to this build. But this car is being built for autocross. So I need some sort of bolstered seat to keep my *** from sliding out the door. It will have a 5 point harness on what ever seat I choose. Here are some vintage boomer style seats I have come across as some options. I leaning in one direction but thought I would see what you guys think as well. The car will be bright white, Matte black wheels, Huge 13" brakes with red 6 piston calipers. HDK front suspension SRT4 motor with sheet metal intake. stainless twin scroll turbo manifold. Big turbo. Motor accents in billet and anodized red BOV and waste gate. Red valve cover. Race pak style dash cluster interior will be red.

The peanut butter colored ones are very cool, not sure if they'd fit your color scheme but they definitely scream vintage racer to me.

This one is nice, I guess it's the peanut butter one also...I'm sure you could get a material to match your paint scheme.

Yeah, I was just posting examples. Not necessarily the colors.

some boxes of fun showed up today. the HDK kit the Wilwood 2" drop pro spindles and The Tial 50mm BOV and the 38mm dual waste gates I will need for the twin scroll turbo manifold I'm building. Still waiting on the brakes. Been on back order for about a month and they tell me another 2/3 weeks. That sucks. Oh well still plenty to do.

Looks Nice..gotta love New parts. What Brakes did you order ?

Wilwood 13" for front and rears. 6 piston narrow calipers front and rear.

Dash is coming along. sanding a dash is one of the most time consuming pieces of a car. Well at least when they are cut up and welded back together. small tedious corners will wear you out. Just about ready for some primer.

Dang. I'm challenged to even find the time to do an oil change. I'm stoked to see the progress you've made though. Cheers!

So Wilwood tells me just last week another 3/4 weeks on the brake kits. But what shows up today. Yep the brakes. Not complaining. Just surprised to see them. Great now I can get the suspension under the car and get the motor set in place so I can build the twin scroll turbo manifold. Oh yeah the 304 Stainless T3 twin scroll flange also showed up all the way from Finland. Bad *** piece.

Well as usual it's been way to long. But I'm back at it again. put the doors back on. Started building the sub frame connectors and build torque boxes. Still so much to do in the shop it's hard to make some time for my own project. It's been over 3 years now and every time I post I say the same thing. It will be ready for next year. Hired some extra hands to help in the shop. We are about 10/12 months wait list to get in right now. But I really want to get this thing rolling and stop standing on the side lines for another year. We will see? Some pictures of the car and the shop.

Spent my night reading all the ups and downs you have been thru. I laughed when I got to the 2 year time frame as I think I remember in one of your early posts you said you didnt want this to be a 2 year build. Time passes so quick and things get in the way. I enjoyed reading everything and wish I had the equipment and skills that you have. I wish you luck in your journey to completion. Lastly I was wondering how you are doing with your 10K budget. I know in my build I have spent way over any budget I set. Its just to hard to stop from spending when you want it done right.
Best of luck to the finish. I will be following along from here out!

Well, believe it or not. I'm still under that number. If had to pay for my own shop rate we would be well north of that right now. doing everything myself is a big advantage. plus i have access to parts at a whole sale price through my shop. that helps as well. I will admit the project has got out of hand. What started as simple build. A budget build if you will. It has taken a turn for the worst. Way to many ideas floating around in my head. The car has become a representation of me and my shop. So it must speak for our abilities.

Yeah, I have bailed out on any of them. My interior guy is using my seat frame he is removing the springs and building them from scratch. at least that is the plan as of today. LOL .

Been busy the last couple of days. Sub frame connectors welded in. Torque boxes fit and welded in. Don't like the transition at the rear of sub frame and frame rail so I will be adding a box brace to that area. The US car tool stuff fit with out to much trouble. Looks pretty good. need to get it off the body cart and on to the lift to get the HDK suspension under it so I can get the motor set in place and build the mounts and start on the twin scroll manifold, intercooler mock up. stay tuned. tossing around the idea of building a true carbon fiber hood with white kevlar/carbon mat. as usual this train wreck has derailed again.

If you need any help or advice making a carbon fiber hood, I've done some carbon fiber lay ups in the past when I was building the SAE Baja car in college. I also took a Composites class and did my senior project on testing carbon fiber coupons for delamination. I definitely wouldn't consider myself a professional and I'm a little rusty as I haven't done a lay up in almost a year, but I can help with what I can. I actually have some vacuum bag material for when I decide to throw some carbon fiber on my car.

Thanks for the offer. One of my guys at the shop has a ton of experience doing this. He worked for John Force racing building there carbon fiber pieces. This is something new we can bring to the table at my shop. We will be offering this service as well.

Yep, he's definitely a million times more qualified than I am. Lol.

Finally some more progress today. The front suspension is all mocked up and now I will move to the back. Need to get it to a roller before I start the mock up of the motor and transmission. Pretty happy with today progress.
