okay i have a 68 fish that i am converting over to 73-76 disc brakes. my ? is looking at my proportiong valve(pv) that is for an A body 69-74 with disc brakes and drum rear it dosen't look like it will set up correctly. meaning where the pv is mounted on the 68 it dosen't line up with the brake lines unless you turn it over, then i would need to use a spacer to mount the pv due to the bracket is in the wrong position.
so did i get the wrong pv or do ineed to disconnect the pv bracket and turn it the other way?
as always thanks for the great advice in advance.
HAPPY Turkey day everyone.

I am doing the same swap on a 73 dart.going from drum front to disc.i gathered all the factory stuff.like you I needed a prop valve.i work at a parts (not a big chain a real store).ok I am going to manual disc brakes the master cyl.fits all the way up 77 dodge aspen.so I got one from an aspen.i called hidden valley autowrecking in arizonia.it cost me 50 bucks and was like brand new.there number is 602-252-2122

I'm not sure. Seems like you are just asking about a mounting problem?
I've only done this on B bodies and the 73 style A body valve mounted right where the "distribution" block was supposed to go.

This are the threads I direct people to.
Lots of good information but may not be what you are asking about.

IF you have the entire brake setup including the distribution block from a '73 then it almost certainluy is a combination block w/ proportioning valve.

You can find descriptions in the Master Technician's Conference booklets.
try 1972 Disk Brake Roundup vol 72-05
and then look in '73 for updates.
http://www.imperialclub.org/Repair/Lit/Master/index.htm

If you look the updates (titles like 1970 service roundup), you'll find that the brake systems evolved and so you can't just mix the components together.

It looks to me like its '72 when the combination block replaces the seperate distribution block and proportioning valve for A bodies with disks. Some cars also get a hold off valve in addition or incorporated into the combination valve. But don't take my word and memory for it, read the original Chrysler booklets. Sometimes useful pictures too. Another place for factory info is http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library-2.shtml

I have done this conversion on many a bodys of all different years , i have never done anything with the proportioning valve and never had a single issue , I did change the MC and i use a power brake unit and it gives you nice firm pedal feel .

Post photos and people can help better. As mentioned, the 1968 proportioning valve is a different beast, so don't use that as a guide. Doesn't sound like you ever had one on your car anyway.

i think what i am going to do is just run an extension from the rear brake line to the PV port that connects to rear brake line. thanks for all the great advice. bruce
