Pic is of my motor before the rebuild. When I bought car the 383 was running pulleys like this...not touching but overlapping a fair bit....is this normal? Acceptable as long as belt somewhat true?
No pulley #'s at all...just a small letter 's'not normal... can you read the pulley numbers and provide?
Heres a pic to show alignmentDo the pulley groves line up correctly, they should be fairly close. The farther the pulleys are apart, the larger the misalignment can be.
It has been awhile, but I think the pulley only goes on one way and will just need to be rotated until all holes line up.Had tk replace the harmonic balancer and now the pulley holes do not align either...View attachment 1715530022
That is incorrect for sure.Heres a pic to show alignmentView attachment 1715530021
What is incorrect? The w/p pulley is lined up with the rear groove on the crank pulley. The outer groove is for P/S pump. That is incorrect for sure.
That is a 1970 and earlier thing. Pulley on goes on one way.Had tk replace the harmonic balancer and now the pulley holes do not align either...View attachment 1715530022
No matter how you rotate this pulley...one hole is always left not lining up...not huge, I can ream it but...shud I? lolIt has been awhile, but I think the pulley only goes on one way and will just need to be rotated until all holes line up.
It is ever slightly off.It looks like the WP pulley is off a good 1/8 inch from the second groove. I am not buying that is correct.
You wouldn't be the first to. Many have including myself. No matter how you rotate this pulley...one hole is always left not lining up...not huge, I can ream it but...shud I? lol
Sorry my phone isnt the greatest camera...but your right, not a great pic. It's hard for me to tell in the pic. Eyes aren't what they used to be. There is a setup where the p/w pulley sits behind the outer groove of the crank pulley like that but should line up.
